Blithewold Arboretum, Mansion and Gardens
The project was made possible through a Champlain Foundation Grant, with the intent to restore the Tea House through an educational and crafts training collaborative. The project used the combined resources and expertise of Roger Williams University’s Historic Preservation Program, Heritage Restoration, Inc. employees(formerly Institute for Preservation Training) , and Blithewold Arboretum. Students from Roger Williams University’s Historic Preservation program participated in the project, through crafts training, research, and project documentation. The project entailed the removal and replacement of a wood shingle roof and related flashings, framing repairs, siding repairs, soffit, facia and crown replacement, window restoration and painting. Since 1995, Heritage Restoration employees had several student exchanges with Roger Williams University, providing the guidance and expertise for each preservation project activity.
